I'm currently in the process of completing my pre-pharmacy coursework while working a full time job. I am managing it well so far (cumulative GPA 3.7), but I am very concerned as to what will happen if/when I get into Pharmacy school.

Is there any precedent for working full-time while attending Pharm school? I doubt it's very realistic. I have a large apartment and many possessions that I would not want to abandon to live on a college campus; can I get student loans that take housing into consideration if I live off campus?

I'm positive there must be others in my situation: no extra money, can't afford school and bills w/o working, etc. Do student loans cover EVERYTHING?

As far I know student loans can be used for anything school related.. I know a pharm. student who pays her rent with her loan money(leftover of course) another one who bought a car with the rest of his then some for laptops.. so I think you can use the loan for that but the only thing to watch for I heard is that in some programs, there is a summer semester(s)that you have to pay for later on so if your program has that, you want to have enough money to cover that tuition if the need ever arises. Also I know a pharmacy student that actually works a fulltime job(overnight) while she is in school. It all depends on the kind of student you are... some can and some can't. I'm hoping to only work on the weekends and add on if it seems possible or just wait till i finish my first year to get a feel of the curriculum and if not possible< i plan to be in a huge debt from loans when I graduate😀

...My 5 pennies:idea:

School loans do cover everything. In general, you will be able to apply for loans that cover up to the cost of your education (even if you have to apply for private loans.)

There is no need to work while in school except for the fact that you will want experience and some extra spending money. If you feel like you want to focus on school, then that should be your emphasis.

For example, for me, the school offers a generous amount of money that covers transportation, food, personal expenditures, insurance, computer costs, books, tuition, housing. They even have money allocated so I can travel home. They will never not give you money unless 1) they don't have any 2) you don't need it.
