Would BME independent research count as BCPM?

So I did independent research for a year (6 credits). My mentor was in the BME department, so the course is under BME. However, I would like to count is as Biology since I am a Biology major and I felt like the lab work I did was very biology related (cell culture and cloning constructs). Is this typically fine? Thanks!
