Hey everyone,

So I am planning on taking my MCAT June 15 which means I would get my score back mid July. Would taking my MCAT mid june make me late for this upcoming cycle? My plan was to submit my primary to a throwaway school the first week of June to get it verified. Right after my MCAT, I would start prewriting secondaries while I am waiting for my score. When I get my score back mid July I would add the other schools. Then when secondaries come in (hopefully they start coming in before August), I will submit them instantly as they are already finished.

Also how long does it take to get secondaries once u submit ur primary app? (i.e. if I submit July 15, when would I get them back).

Sorry for the long post, I just want to make sure I am not putting myself at a disadvantage, timing wise.

1) No, you wouldn't be late, you'd be "on time."

2) That plan sounds fine.

3) Some Secondaries will come almost immediately, as they are automatically sent once a school has your contact information. Some will take longer, even weeks longer, if a school screens your application first for parameters they are looking for. You can find out which is which in the SDN School Specific Forums, after you decide where you'll apply.

Thanks, I appreciate the response.

You wouldn’t even be on time, you’d still be very early. Pre-write your secondaries and send them all in on July 15 or 16 or whatever date you get your MCAT and you’ll be super early. I got 4 interviews this year and took my MCAT July 7, and didn’t submit my applications until Mid August - early September. One of the very last apps I sent got me an II ten days later. And my app is not that good so you’re fine!
