Would be necessary (or highly recommended) to take a creative writing course (for English prereq) after:

Scoring a 4 on AP Eng. Literature +
Taking English Comp. 1 at the CC level +
Taking American Fiction at the University level

Some of my science classes are also writing intensive.

I'd say no. But some medical schools are stringent on what they want. I know USC wants 30+ credits of humanities. So check with the schools your most interested in.

As long as your AP score is recognized by either your CC or University as counting for credit, then probably not.

I will tell you that I took both AP English's in high school (which were accepted at my University for Comp I and Comp II), and took none in college (although a lot of humanities) and it wasn't a problem at any medical school.

Most med schools whose prereqs I've looked at seem pretty flexible on the requirement, emphasizing that the point is to make sure med school applicants can write and communicate effectively, not that they've all taken the same standardized English course. If there's a particular school you're interested and you're not sure, you can always contact them and ask.

Now for my anecdotal evidence: My undergrad doesn't offer basic English composition (their attitude: if you can't write an essay by the time you've reached college, it's your problem to learn on your own) and this hasn't seemed to be a stumbling block for our pre-meds. The literature-based writing-intensive first year seminars seem to suffice.

A few schools require 2 semesters of college english (not AP). I ended up crossing off 2 or 3 schools from my list because I had one AP English credit and one college technical writing course. Most will be covered with just the AP credit as long as it's on your college transcript.
