I'll be transferring to a 4-year next semester, and i'm currently 21 without having done any of the pre-reqs. I did complete a number of gen ed courses at a CC. I was wondering would it be wise to overload myself my first semester i.e( Chem 1, Bio 1, Calc, Physics 1), in order to finish my Pre-reqs in a timely matter, or should I take it easier my first semester there to get used to the different pace of a 4-year. I hope to apply to Med school at 23/24.

Also, would it look bad if I took Eng 1& 2 at a CC? Should I just take the time to retake them at a 4-year?

I think there's a separate place on the forum for schedules and stuff but I'll bite..

I vote for option b) mainly because those are 3 pre-req's right there in addition to another difficult class and you really want to do your best in them. If you did Chem, Bio, Calc or Chem, Bio, Physics then I personally think that would be more doable assuming that you know you will have to work your butt off. But all 4? ehhhh lol

Thanks, i'm pretty new to these forums and I haven't explored them as much as I should have. I appreciate the input, and I kinda assumed the answer was option B.

Overloading yourself right away is a recipe for disaster. You might think you will be saving time, but if you have to do a post bac for a year extra to try to repair a horrible semester, how much time have you saved?

Start slow, and don't force it. Your GPA will thank you. :luck:

You mean you already took Eng 1,2 and you are wondering if you should retake them at the 4-yr? Please don't do that.

Remember your science classes have labs. I'd take 2 sciences w/ labs, a math, and then some other class. I wouldn't pack 3 sciences+labs together, maybe it's just me.

Rule of thumb ( for me i guess ) is to only take 2 labs per semester, I've noticed on SDN that most ppl agree 3 science courses with a lab each is not so good.

Slow down, take your time but take a good enough load as well. No need to rush if you're going to end up needing to retake the class.

Do not take the english courses again. I did my first 2 years at a CC and english was included. I dont plan on taking them over.

👍

Don't repeat anything with decent grades, make sure you start the chem sequence and don't try an kill yourself with 3 sciences per semester

agreed. Don't rush, focus on getting good grades

I transferred from CC at 23 and did all my science prereqs in "real college" at the ages of 23-25. English is fine to take at CC. I would advise taking science courses at the university. You'll likely benefit more.

That schedule is manageable; I did something comparable while TA'ing, doing research, and being an RA. Just make sure you hit the books before you even start class or you will fall behind. Hope you got your partying done during or before CC. It's time to get serious!
