If my license got suspended for getting too many speeding tickets, would med schools find out by the criminal background check they run?
Ughh spent forever looking for it, but there was an SDNer who lost an acceptance because he didn't report a speeding ticket. As in they were accepted and the school rescinded the acceptance!
I do not believe this.
Edit: I also will not believe it if I see a thread talking about it. It is very easy to make something like that up.
It got taken down? I would have loved to see it. I didn't know once you get accepted you can be rescinded. That's so harsh.
That dude got rejected from med school for a SINGLE SPEEDING TICKET???
It's a bit harder to forge a letter on med school letter head stating that your acceptance was revoked, but you can continue in your disbelief if you wish.I do not believe this.

I was nervous about my one and only speeding ticket when I got to the section on AMCAS about misdemeanors. So I looked it up, and according to Virginia law (where I got my ticket), a speeding ticket is a misdemeanor only if you're going more than 80 mph or more than 15 mph over the limit. Otherwise it's a citation. I was ticketed for exactly 80 and exactly 15 over the limit. At the time, I thought the cop was being harsh, but now I realize he was actually doing me a favor. I probably was going over 80, so he basically let me off a reckless driving ticket.
Reading this, though, I think I'll double check by calling the state just to make sure. Acceptance rescinded for a speeding ticket...that's scary!!
