Hi y'all,
I am currently finishing up my junior year, and I'm considering moving after my senior year. I currently live where I grew up, and there are multiple med schools in the city, private and state. I do all of my volunteering here and am really connected to the community through that. I would have about 370 hours nonclinical volunteering at a food pantry at the time of the move, or about 700 if I stayed and did not move. I've also started a new initiative within the food pantry, which I would continue to work on. If I stayed, I would also be working in a clinical position here, likely in a hospital serving underserved populations (this is not a rich area). If I move I will get a different clinical position and new volunteering, so I would end up with similar hours, but the volunteering hours would be split between 2 activities. I guess my question is how detrimental would it be to have my hours split like this? And would it lower my chances for my home med school because I wouldn't be serving our community as much?
(i will have shadowing and ~250 hrs of research when i graduate as well)
