Would shadowing a pharmacist be cool?

I know we're all pre-dents here but I'm thinking about shadowing a pharmacist.

I already have a few hundred hours under my belt in terms of assisting and shadowing dentists and I'd wonder if this would look good.

Maybe I'll shadow for like 50 hours only. Who knows.

But in the end, would it be a good thing to do or would it look totally pointless, irrelevant and ******ed?

It is what you want it to be...why shadow a pharmacist if you don't want to do pharmacy school? it obviously won't help you get into dental school though...

Shadowing other fields is "cool" when intended for personal use in the decision making process of choosing a career, but it is unlikely that it will impress adcoms unless it is a question that is asked during an interview.

I would not mention it in my dental school application. But if you're interested in both dentistry and pharmacy, then do the shadowing to ensure that you make the correct career decision.

I agree with everyone else. Adcoms might ask you why you decided to shadow pharm after all of your dental shadowing.

actually its not cool..

i was a pharm tech and staying in that little corer was boring....

Not bashing pharmacists (love you dad!) but...........................

do you really wanna argue with insurance companies all day on the phone? Do you wanna stand on your feet all day in a little corner? Strain your eyes on the computer? Deal with forged prescriptions and people yelling at you because they can't get their hydros when they had them filled 3 days earlier? What if little Ms. Ruth cannot afford her blood pressure medicine?

I just....*shudders*...pharmacy. But hey, working for my dad, even though I wasn't interested in pharmacy, it really made me realize it'll never be in the picture for me. And if you need to shadow a pharmacist to realize that it is or is not the career for you, do it!! At least you will never wonder what if 🙂

Ms. Ruth might be your first patient.
