Ok as many of you know osteopathic schools require/strongly recommend a DO LOR. Well a great family friend, who also happens to be on the admissions board for a MD medical school that I'm applying to is my prime candidate for this LOR. Would it be viewed as odd sending a DO LOR to MD schools?

No. Pre-meds make more of MD vs. DO than actual doctors do. The fact that he's on an MD admissions board kinda emphasizes this point...
