So I was accepted to my first school (Drexel) about a week ago and am waiting on post-interview decisions from two other schools (one being my top choice). I have one more interview scheduled in January, but I'm not too sure I should go. I know it's ultimately up to me to decide, but I wanted to hear your opinion on whether you would attend the interview. I have never been to the state in which the school is located and have no family there. The school is not really the greatest in terms of ranking (not ranked) either. I would rather give my interview spot to someone who really wants to go there. The thing is is that i've worked so hard to get these interviews and its hard to turn them down and I feel like I should give the school a chance.🙁 I think I have already made up my mind lol. Nonetheless, opinions are welcome! Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Yes, you have already made up your mind. 😀
Do you see yourself going to this school over Drexel?
I know how you feel wanting to go to all of the interviews because you worked so hard.

Personally, I would only attend the interview if I see myself attending the school over the ones I already got into...or if I have a strong desire to visit the school or city.

You're lucky to already be accepted at a school. If you prefer any other school over Drexel, go to the interview. If not, I cannot stress the importance of canceling your interviews early enough so they can give your spot to another candidate. Yes, you've worked hard... you can always say you got X number of interviews. Stop being so bummed about not dishing out money to travel and not having to put yourself through more interviews... and go celebrate.

What SillyShoes said. Although, it couldn't really HURT you. But if you already know you'd rather go to Drexel over this other school, then there's really no point in going, especially since it might free up a spot for someone else who is dying to go there.

It's hard to say whether I would choose this school over Drexel. Unfortunately, my interview at Drexel was scheduled during the time when the other interviewees were taking a tour of the school lol. I pretty much left with about as much knowledge about the school as I did coming into it! I mean I liked the look of the building and the surrounding neighborhood😛, but that's about all I got from the experience. That's kinda why I'm having trouble with the decision to drop this interview. I do like Philly from what I've seen and heard about it.

I had the same issue after getting an acceptance in mid-October yet still having a ton of interviews left in October/November. I just evaluated the schools I had left to the one acceptance (ohio state in this case) and make a decision: If accepted to ALL schools, would I choose one of these schools I had not yet interviewed at over the first acceptance or prior interviews? For me, based on location and pricing, it was an easy NO, so I cancelled my airplane tickets (refunded and credited by the airline) and hotels (no cancellation fee). There is really no point in you wasting your time if off of first instinct you know you probably wouldn't choose to attend that school. In early-November, however, I got an awesome interview offer at a top school, so even though I'm already accepted at osu, I have nothing to loose trying to gain an acceptance at an even better school, and I was able to use the money saved from the other cancelled interviews to pay for this awesome upcoming interview. Totally worth it! Hope this helps! 😀

Yeah true that! Celebration starts after finals...Btw I do really feel honored to be accepted...that wasn't the point of the thread. I'm just trying to find the best possible fit for myself out of the schools that have given me an interview, that's all.

Congrats on the acceptance! I think I'm going to cancel the interview right now...Someone else deserves a spot! Thanks you all for the opinions👍

Just sent the cancellation email. I think I just needed a little bit of a push.

Why does this matter? I may be wrong, but Drexel is a middle tier is it not?

If I were you, I would go to the interview, because it might end up being cheaper since Drexel's cost of attendance is pretty high.

I would have several options under my belt.

Doesn't really matter that much. I don't think Drexel is ranked either, but I don't care too much. I just canceled the other interview anyways.

Why would they reassign the interview invite at this point? It's so late in the game I really doubt that they are going to "redo" invites just because one or two kids choose to withdraw. I think its poor form that you are trying to guilt someone into withdrawing by implying the only reason that they might go to the interview is so they can brag about multiple acceptances. I went to several interviews that I was borderline about after being accepted. Afterwards, they were still borderline and I withdrew. So in a sense, yes I wasted my time, my money, and their spot. However, I don't regret going because I might have fallen in love too. The only interviews I withdrew from were ones that I would under no forseeable condition go to over what I already had, even with financial aid.

I probably would have gone and checked it out....

sounds like you are not sold on Drexel so why limit your options yet?

too late now....😳

Lol...well ill just think of it as not being meant to be haha

After I got accepted to Case and Ohio State (two schools I'd love to go to), I canceled my interviews at Wright State and UNC. I felt a little lame doing that, but I saved a lot of money and knew I wouldn't end up at either of those schools over the schools I already got into. So if you're in that situation, cancel them I say.

Looks like you have ample reason to cancel the interview!

I would have gone if the cost of attendance looked cheaper than the school you've been accepted at. It is absolutely your right to attend every interview you've received. If you are canceling interviews, it should be because you have no continued interest in the program, not because you are trying to give your interviews to other people.
