I am in my first gap year and in addition to working full time and classes I would really like to immerse myself in the hospital environment and build my ec's. I have found an opportunity at a nearby hospital to be part of a program where I would be acting as a family member of a critical patient in a hypothetical scenario, and residents will practice their communication skills by conveying sensitive information to me. In turn, I would give the residents feedback as to how they can improve in these difficult situations, a 'teaching' experience if you will. This would help them learn how to be more comfortable/effective in these difficult situations.
I have a really busy schedule but would like to fit this in if I can. Do you think this would be a good experience? Would it be viewed as a valuable experience by schools?
Thanks for your opinion!
