Would you count being a caregiver as community service/serving disadvantaged populations?

I was a caregiver for individuals with varying degrees of mental disabilities that required 24 hour assistance. I'm putting this down as non clinical work experience because I did get paid, but can I talk about this experience as community service or serving the disadvantaged?

Serving the disadvantaged yes. Community service no.

Unfortunately, American English is stupid. While you are in fact ‘serving your community’ The layperson views ‘community service’ as volunteering.

Each item gets one tag. The correct tag in this case is employment non-clinical. If you learned about people with disabilities and became more empathetic that would be a suitable thing to mention. Having a job that provides needed service to people in exchange for a paycheck is not really community service any more than being a paid firefighter is "community service".
