Would you give up an organ for acceptance into your fist choice?

I apologize, first time doing a poll. Would you give up an organ such as a kidney for acceptance into your first choice school AND guaranteed acceptance into the specialty of your choice at the location of your choice?

For example, I would give up everything I had 2 of to gain acceptance into Ross and land a residency in Mexico in Proctology....um...just kidding btw, but seriously, would anyone give up a large organ to gain the above? Kidney, lung.....testicle?

I'd give up a testicle...probably

Yes, I would proudly forfeit my appendix for a spot at my #1.

I thought I was clever and was going to say this, but you beat me to it.

Other than that, a major organ, heck no.

I have a 3rd kidney so go ahead and take one for acceptance to my top choice ( Stanford).

Do you really have a third kidney? :O I hear that stuff goes for over 100K. Maybe you should just pay your way through med school with it :ninja:

I think this is such a stupid post... just saying

So...you're asking me if I'd give my appendix to basically not have to go to med school and become a doctor in whatever specialty I wanted 4 years down the road? Yes, I believe that would be a fair trade.

Only if I was guaranteed to match to specialty of my choice at a top program in the country.

I dunno what organ. I only have two measly kidneys and one is on hold until I get the results of a matching test 🙁 I guess pancreas can be done as a live donor?

IF someone wanted my pancreas and was willing to pay me $300k, I'd do it.

I'd also be a surrogate prego.

I probably wouldn't give up an organ... but I might consider eating a poop hot-dog.

I agree. "Would you study and work hard to gain acceptance into your first choice school?...."

Yeah, that's not a guarantee. I know a few stories where top people don't get into ANY school (I guess every school thought, "this kid isn't going to take our offer, they'll go elsewhere, let's not bother"). Besides, there's no harm in having a poll for a hypothetical situation. It's pretty funny that kids want this so bad, that's the joke.

I would happily donate my uterus. Please, pretty please! Take the damn thing away! 🙄

Don't worry, you will come up with something better next time. 😉

 For some reason I feel like if some pre-med was offered the same deal but it was a private/secret deal, they'd take it....I would...publicly lol

Exactly! why must people reply to say they think its stupid....yo momma! just kidding, dont hit me...really...I was just joking😛

...and risk getting some horrible disease from fecal matter BEFORE starting medical school (as promised in this deal)? heck naw! Take my organ...but I guess there are loads of nosocomial implications with that too.... but whatever we're all gonna die! 😱lol

I would GLADLY donate a kidney if I was guaranteed to get in to whatever specialty I wanted, wherever I wanted.

Hell, I'd even throw in a nut just for good measure.

It's illegal to sell your organs (in the US anyways).
It's funny how some people have tried (on ebay even), failed miserably, and got arrested.

As for the topic, if I can't get into the school of my choice by my own merits then I probably don't deserve it.
I'd be too tempted to slack off if I was guaranteed admission to my choice med school and specialty... I don't want that.
I'll probably be a worse doctor for it than had I went to a low-ranked medical school through my own hard work.

Plus, I know a lot of people think that they're infallible, but what if you need that extra kidney later on? If not for yourself, then for a loved one?
I'm sure it would be one of the biggest regrets of your life if you can't save someone when you could have.

I would give up evertything i have to get accepted into
😍Johns Hopkins 😍med school and in Masschusetts General as a surgical resident and in Stanford hospital as a Cardiothoracic surgery fellow

There are so many other things one can do with one's life. Unless it was a completely useless thing (like an appendix) this topic is silly. (and I cannot believe so many people answered yes, you people are crazy)

hell no. dignity and wholeness is worth more than being a doctor. probably wouldnt want to go to med school is this was the deal. seems unethical, socially unjust.

Skin. Definitely my skin. Plus it would probably give me URM status at that point

I actually thought about this and decided that I would donate my kidney on the condition that I, 1) match into my preffered residency and 2) start med school next year. I am a rising junior so this saves me three years.

It also depends on whether I'll be operated on or not. If my kidney simply "vanished" without any surgery, then gladly.

Yes. You can have my appendix, gallbladder, and spleen.
