People are tired of this I know, but I would still like your opinion and help. I got into Temple off the CCL today and have the opportunity of choosing between the two Philly schools. I liked both, but I've only based my gut feelings about the schools on the half day that I spent at each. I was hoping I could get a few other opinions from SDN'ers about what they thought if they visited or currently attend. Did you learn anything that convinced you about or scared you away from either school, and not that I will follow the sheep, but which would you choose?
Drexel pros:
--nice campus that has the bells and whistles when it comes to tech stuff.
--students and SDN'ers keep saying the atmosphere is very cool and non competitive which is important to me because I lost some of my soul at berkeley.
--I've heard good things about the faculty being available and dedicated to teaching rather than research.
--you can live within walking distance of the campus
--liberal approach to teaching is cool even though I'm IFM for sure
Drexel questionable:
--haven't heard much about the clinical experiences in Tenant hospitals during years 3+4
--Residency matches in the past were a little disappointing, and 2003 is supposed to be good but I haven't seen it yet.
--It's no fun having to explain to everyone where/what drexel med is following the name changes. Could be different in a few years though.
Temple pros:
--have heard good things about the clinical experiences that can be gotten in the hospitals--especially considering the underserved areas Temple hospital serves.
--I've also heard that students are laid back and noncompetive here--though I need more confirmation.
--Temple has a good reputation at least in PA I think.
--My tour guide was a happy berkeley alumni!
Temple questionables:
--can't live anywhere near campus
--no bells and whistles and cool tech stuff on campus
--accreditation in jeopardy was a little scary, but I think it will be forgotten in the future.
--do students at temple seem happy? Didn't get to talk to many.
--financial aid guy, security guard and some admissions staff seemed bored/angry on interview day--is the faculty the same?
