I am scheduled to interview at WVSOM sometime in October. I have mixed feelings about the school and will surely not attend if I get accepted anywhere else. My problem is mainly with their OOS tuition. Now, I have already interviewed at one school and have four more interviews next month including a couple at MD schools. I don't mean to be taken as bragging or something, but should I really go to this interview? At this point, I feel if I get accepted to any school prior to their interview, I will bail. Cost of interviewing is really adding up!!!

Based on the timeframe, I'm not sure what the likelihood/feasibility is of your being accepted before the WVSOM interview. Is there a chance that will happen? Otherwise, personally, I'd plan to interview. A few hundred bucks now is better than waiting a year. If there's no chance of an acceptance before then, you should make arrangements now, since it will end up costing less than making last minute travel plans.

I wouldn't go. Statistically, with 5 interviews, you have a 1-2% chance of NOT being accepted anywhere (certain conditions apply, of course). However, if finances are really an issue and you're not crazy about the school at all, you would pretty much be wasting everyone's time. Good luck at your other interviews 🙂

I would book a fully transferable ticket. It might cost a little more, but you're hedging bets either way. If you decide to interview, you can wait a little while to book your hotel using an online discount service. If you decline the interview, change your ticket to either a different interview location, use it for one you may get later in the season, or use it to re-visit the school you eventually decide on. You'll probably end up going there again to apartment/house hunt, etc. Re-booking might have an associated fee, but this way, you're covered if you decide to take the interview, and have more flexibility if you decline.

Good idea. Southwest lets you change your flight plans and only pay the difference in fares, if there are any (and this is the rule for the cheapest ticket). They probably have a good refund policy too--I just haven't needed to do that.

I would never turn down an interview. You have a lot to gain from the experience, and a lot to lose if your other interviews don't work out the way you expect them to.

I know someone who interviewed at 7 MD schools and 2 DO schools; and were accepted to one DO school. Point being - statistics and averages about interviews/acceptances are not necessarily the same results that you will see. Just something to think about.
