I just took a look at COMP's matchlist for 2005 and I have to say that I am very impressed.

Radiology at USC?! I don't think I've seen other DO matchlists with a MD radiology placement, not to mention it's at a Radiology program as competitive as USC.

Then there are Peds at Children's Hospital? PM&R at Stanford, NYU, UCI and Northwestern? Several Anesthesiology placements at places like USC, Davis, SUNY Brooklyn? I also see one ENT...but it doesn't say where it's at. Does anyony know?

WOW. I hope I get in now 🙂

There are probably more allo Radiology matches than you might think. It's older, but just to give you an example, the UMDNJ-SOM 2002 match has 2/3 of their radiology placements in allo programs.

I don't know much about UCI, but those other PM&R matches are considered some of the best programs in the country (Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago which is Northwestern, Stanford, and Rusk which is NYU). PM&R used to be exclusively an allo specialty but I heard MSU-COM now has their own program. That's pretty cool.

It also looks like they had an allo ortho match at UMDNJ-Newark.

All in all, some really good stuff. It's too bad that primary care matches sometimes get overshadowed by the highly competitive matches. One of the things I think is really cool about the osteopathic match lists is that a considerable amount of the graduates go into primary care. I realize a lot of people think that the osteopathic philosophy is just like a giant slogan or something. Considering the osteopathic philosophy, the large proportion of osteopathic graduates that go into primary care specialties is very admirable, in my opinion.

Good luck getting in and Happy Easter 🙂

I overlooked it and thought it was a DO Orthopaedic Surgery at UMDNJ, but you're right it's a MD program. Almost forgot UMDNJ has a MD school as well.

Another notable placement in 2005 is a match in Facial Plastic Surgery. I'm also interested in finding out where that ENT match is at. Whoever knows it please tell.

I also agree with Phil Anthropist that primary care residencies get overlooked. I know plenty of my classmates that are doing very well in school with great personalities and will definitely become great docotors, but are not interested in anything except Peds or Family. I'm sure that's the case at every DO school and indeed that's what makes DO schools admirable.

where can i find the match list for 2005?

I am not at all surprise that COMP students match so well. I know one COMP grad is doing Nuclear Medicine at USC. USC has two openings for Nuclear Medicine every other year. Hence, consider so many people apply, you can see how difficult it is to get into that USC NM program. Also, I know one COMP grad who will finish his Radiology residency at University of Okaholma next year and has been accepted a muscle/bone radiology fellowship there already. Finally I know another COMP grad who has accepted a one year muscle/bone radiology fellowship at UCI. FYI, UCI has only one slot for the muscle/bone radiology fellowship, and my friend beats out competition from residents from Stanford, John Hopkins and other well known programs. By the way, both the OU and UCI muscle/bone fellowship programs are funded. No too bad for grads from a DO school, isn't it?

You can find it in the sitcky post that's on top of all posts in this forum. it says sticky: Match Lists. Then scroll down to the bottom of page 1, it's there.

As far as primary care residencies go for COMP students, the proximity in southern California definitely can't hurt, but people are getting some decent placements in both HMO settings, community hospitals, county, as well as academic settings (i.e. one student going to UCSD for FP, another student going to UCSD for peds). The two students going to Children's Hospital of LA were extremely competitive students who definitely deserved to go there and arguably could have gone to other residency programs as well. The Sinai Hospital in Baltimore for PM&R should be Johns Hopkins for PM&R from what I understand (a typo or mistake in the list to my knowledge).

Yup, one of my classmates (who had gotten into COMP knowing he wanted to do ortho) ended up at UMDNJ for ortho sx which is an allopathic program.

This graduating class had quite a few competitive candidates for residencies I thought. Only 40 something more days till graduation for them!

I also see a PM&R at U of Rochester and one at UPMC, which should be U. of Pittsburgh? They deserve to be mentioned along with their notable classmates.

And then there are like 4 primary care residency placements at UCI, 2 at Loma Linda and 8 at USC, in addition to Rad and Aneth. You go class of 2005.

I agree, we could list a lot of notables, but they are all conveniently located in the Match thread in the Pre-Osteopathic forums for others to peruse.

UPMC is indeed Pittsburgh. Ross Zafonte, D.O. is the program chair there and has done a ton of research work for inpatient rehabilitation.. a formidable program for anyone willing to embrace the chilly Pittsburgh weather. (Great sports town though!)

There was one for psych at Loma Linda I believe as well as another I can't remember off the top of my head.

Military-wise, we did alright too. There are two classmates that I can think of off the top of my head, one who matched radiology at Walter Reed and another who matched derm in San Antonio.

Anyone know where i can find the COMP matchlist? How did people match as far as EM residencies go?
