i'm pretty frustrated with the service provided by the aadsas. i understand everyone is being backed up, but when i called to check in on the status of my application today, the representative was quite rude! I heard some laughing in the back, and the rep seemed like she just didn't care. I understand they may get bored and are annoyed of us callers, but this does not mean they can scold the callers. We have paid good money, and want to know where things are. Anyways, have any of you had such experiences calling in?

Also, she told me to expect my application to be sent out around Oct. 21. I asked her how long it takes usually for the schools to get the mailouts and she said 3 days by ups. So, that would put me getting to the schools around the end of October. Does this leave me any chances of getting interviews at the schools I applied to (Boston, Maryland, Harvard, UCLA, UCSF, UOP, Loma Linda, Florida, USC, and Baylor)? My numbers are all very solid, but I'm worried as so many SDN'ers already have interviews lined up, and I'm still waiting on the AADSAS.

You're right. AADSAS is a joke. Just remember, whatever date AADSAS lists online for you as "printout mailed" actually means printout available online. The true printout is mailed 2-3 weeks after "printout mailed'' is listed. Also, letters of rec. (which most schools wait for before evaluating your app) are sent another 2 weeks after your printout is mailed. So you are looking at mid-November before schools get your application.

Sorry for the bad news. I paid my AADSAS fee on June 24th and it is now September 28th and the schools just received my letters of rec. Fortunately I have interviews lined up and secondary's completed already.

Consider it an introduction to all that is wrong with dental education. You will spend a quarter million dollars over the next four years for the privilege of being humiliated, harassed and generally abused. And you will keep begging for more because you will learn that when the abuse lets up for even a moment it means that something even more horrible is in store for you.

Try not to stress too much about the AADSAS thing, though. It sucks that they are so slow, but you will still get your interviews before the first round of acceptances. Good Luck. 😀

The early bird gets the worm! j/k It's hard to say what schools will do. Did you get 16/16/16 or 26/26/26. If the latter, then it doesn't matter when you send it in...you will get accepted before I do as long as your personality measures up, and against me...thats pretty tough 😎

As far as them being rude...it's probably a temporary job for most and why do they care? Just be patient with the system. They might get 100's of calls everyday from frustrated applicants and they probably get fed up with it. As far as all of dental school getting harassed and abused...maybe 20 years ago, but for the most part I think everyone wants to help. There are the few professors/docs that want to spoil your fun though. 😡

hey guys,
it's comforting knowing others are in the same boat. corolla, my scores are closer to the latter. i dont mean to whine or piss anybody off, but i really have worked very hard for those scores as well as the rest of my application (as well as i'm sure most of us have), and i just dont want to end up not getting interviews for most schools because they are filling up. i am perfectly fine with interviewing next year, but what is worrying me is that it seems like most people are getting their material in early, and have interviews lining up so early.

ahhh-if it weren't for my pre-dent advisor telling me to apply after i take my dat's....

Tough to hear, but you hear definitely at a disadvantage now because your app is not in. I had a friend last year apply in October with a 4.0 and good DAT and got rejected because they had already accepted their quote from our state.

Don't your apps become available online when the transcripts are verified? Did you send your rec letters in before or after you submitted your application?
