I will be interviewing in two weeks at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA and was wondering if anyone could help me with some interview preparation.
What kinds of questions should I be expecting? Has anyone had this interview already? Anyone have any good things to say about the Wright Institute?
(Please don't write negatives--the school is my top choice 🙂

Thanks!

It's not all blazing approval of The Wright, but it wouldn't be wright (har har) to blow sunshine up your skirt. Take people's opinions for what they are. My opinion is try not to set yourself up for a heartbreak. If you rock but don't get in, you can get a great education elsewhere.

Hi mrs445 -- I interviewed at Wright last week. It was a one-hour interview with an alumnus. They asked all the standard questions (why Wright, why clinical psych, why would you be a good clinician, strengths and weaknesses, etc), along with a few others. They asked me for an example of a clinical intervention that went well, and one that did not. Also some interesting theoretical questions on how I define psychotherapy, and how does psychotherapy differ from social work.

All in all it was a good interview -- I felt that the questions were fair, and I was never made to feel uncomfortable. There is a bit of time at the end to ask questions. Of course, who you get for your interviewer makes a big difference. Then after that is over, you'll meet with Liz Hertz (Director of Admissions), and she just answers any questions you have left over.

Good luck!!!
