No essays, no entering specific information other than name and AAMC ID. It's literally like buying something off of Amazon....

Buy two and double your chance of getting in.

Better yet, just buy everything left in stock and leave nothing for the other applicants...guaranteed acceptance? :meanie:

MCW also has no essays.

Yeah but at least MCW has a legit secondary website where you can upload a photo, put additional information, WI residency, etc.

Wright State's website seems like it was developed by a former Amazon programmers. Also they want my damn money just to look at my primary 👎

You realize that Harvard and WashU don't have any essays either (except under obvious circumstances), right?

It has nothing to do with the lack of essays. It has to do with their secondary website selling their secondary like an electric toothbrush online.

They are also not the only school to do that. And they are certainly not the only school to value professionalism.

I disagree. The way I looked at it is this:

When you are on the other side of your first rejection (heaven forbid), see if your first thought isn't "Man, if I could have just said X, Y, and Z."

Having more space is more opportunity for you to explain yourself, where you are coming from, and why you are a great fit for a school. People on here gripe about long secondaries. Yes, they get tedious. But I would choose more essays rather than less if I had my druthers.

When I was rejected after a similar minimal secondary, I regretted not having more essays. A main application probably does not fully explain how you think you "fit" a particular school. You can't talk about how much you are interested in this or that program, etc...

Having said that, I agree with Myuu that mocking the secondary is in poor form. For all you know, they have a much more intensive interview process, and have found that the secondary does not affect their admissions outcomes. You really can't say.

On the other hand, I commend Wright State for not being tempted to waste your time with fluff on the website - having chosen to not require more essays. In some ways, it is nice to know you can crank it out without a lot of hoop-jumping.

I don't.

A non-screened secondary that simply asks for a fee doesn't do you any favors, especially for applicants with less than stellar stats or things on their application they need to explain. I'd rather write an essay that explains myself better than send a fee into the abyss and hope they like my primary.

If they at least screened applicants and then asked for a fee, that'd be another story. But these are just silly.

I suppose. Screened secondaries would definitely be preferable to nonscreened ones. But in any case, submittng secondaries with no essays definitely adds to the feeling of this process being a crapshoot (for those schools at least).

at least they aren't fronting about the fact that most secondaries are just a quick buck into the school's pockets......

Definitely lawled when I saw you could update the quantity on this secondary.

When it's over, they email you and say "thank you for shopping at Wright State Boonshoft school of medicine."
