Hello everyone,
I'm having trouble writing the dreaded "diversity" essay for secondaries. Right now, I'm thinking about writing about my minors in Philosophy and Art History because I genuinely think they add a unique perspective to my education. However, I'm hesitant because I do not want to come off as a robotic pre-med, writing only about my classes. Any advice? Would my minors make for a compelling diversity essay?

I think emphasizing about bringing a "diversity of experience" to medical school could work quite well, but I'll let others weigh in as well. As a white male, I didn't bring much racial/cultural diversity but thought that my academic background as a political science major could bring something new to a class.

I can see possibilities here. Did you study abroad or do anything outside of classes in terms of your interest in art history and philosophy? Can you tie this to your appreciation and understanding of other cultures besides your own? Have you enaged with other traditions and cultures?

I have never been abroad, which has made this essay more difficult. However, I definitely think I can tie in an appreciation for other cultures and traditions through other experiences.
