Hey guys,

i know alot of us that do research dont interact much with our PIs and do alot more with our mentors...but would it be alright to say that you "worked under the guidance of ____ (insert PIs name here)"? obviously its name dropping...but i feel like it might be warranted especially when the school your applying to is the same school your PI went to for med school

Can you explain the difference between your mentor and your PI? Am I correct to assume that the mentor is a postdoc/PhD student that you spent most of your time with? If that is the case, I would absolutely mention the PI's name first. After all, it is his lab and is probably should be named as such. If, however, your "mention" includes a description, I would be sure to say what you did with who.
