Writing the Research Proposal

Hey everyone, hope you can help me out. I'm a MS3 in the process of writing a brief research proposal for a retrospective cohort study in the heme/onc field. The proposal requires an outline including scientific background and rationale; hypothesis & aims; methods and approach. I spent some time researching writing proposals online but didn't find much on organization, flow and what should be included in each respective section. I would appreciate any advice, or helpful sites, examples.
