Hi. I was wondering does the student or the professor write a scientific paper for publication in a scientific journal if you are in a master of science program?

It really depends upon the PI. Some may say, "here you write this"; others may say "write me a results section based upon your data in this figure" and still others will do all of the writing.

I do the writing myself, but have my students proof it. I also have them write poster abstracts.

Agreed, highly variable. Depends on the student, PI, the number of other people involved in the project, probably the intended journal, and so on. Sometimes the student writes most of it with editing by the PI, sometimes just parts, etc.
