For people who have gone through a UCSF interview,
could you please describe the process?
Length of time? What types of people you were interviewed by?
Also, how was the writing portions of the interview performed?
How much time did you get, for what kinds of essay questions?
Did you just write with a pen and paper?

I don't really remember what time i got there. i think it was around noon. i worked at ucsf at the time, so it was kind of a haze. i started off with the i.v. which was with a faculty member in policy and student. I had actually read some of the faculty member's work so it was cool to talk to her. I pretty much dominated the conversation, but it does tell me that they review your app when they select an interviewer, bc my whole personal state was about drug policy. the student had some good questions as well. i made it a point to really extend my good side to the student. you want give the impression of being a great classmate/colleague. I was the last one to leave my i.v. table, so i think it went well.

the students were asian. that's the best way to describe them. a ton of them knew ea other too from like uci and davis. it was kinda weird. the essay was like an 45 mins i think. you could select from three topics . they were all non-science, issues kinda problems. if you aren't humanities-ish you may struggle a bit, but i don't think they weight it that heavily. i think most of these are to prove that you actually wrote your own personal state.

they had a financial aid presentation and they also had a lounge where level 1s would hang out and talk to you. that was actually really nice. they were all really chill and most spoke about their own i.v. experiences at diff't schools. i actually made some good friends that day. it was cool. overall really well done.
