Hey guys,

I am a junior at a small liberal arts college and was wondering how bad it would look if I have 2 W's on my transcript, one I'm Biochemistry (I had to withdraw due to personal problems at home, but I'm retaking it in fall) and the other in Organic Chemistry II (I have 3 other science classes, I'm aVP in a nonprofit club, I have a job, plus things going on at home..I'm probably retaking all of Organic next yr just to grasp a better understanding).

Do you guys know anyone with multiple W's who got into DO schools?

I have 3 W's due to a change of major and got into one, along with several interviews. Just make sure you have a good explanation why you got them as I was asked about mine at a couple interviews.

*edit: I also go to a small liberal arts university

Not a big deal. I have a few myself (maybe 2 or 3) sporadically placed on my transcript and one entire semester with a big ol' Dubya on it.

Got accepted to two DO schools this past cycle.

If you can get a B or above, I wouldn't withdraw...but if you are at risk for getting anything below, it's much better to withdraw than take the low grade.

Most schools have so many apps to go through that they most likely won't pay much attention to individual classes until after they consider you a viable candidate based on your overall GPA and science GPA. By then, they'll like your app enough that a few W's won't make a major impact and will only (if at all) be an issue/topic when you are invited for an interview.

I had 3 Ws, was offered 7 interviews, attended and was accepted to 3, skipped the other 4. I was never asked about my Ws even once. I attended a small and not particularly well known liberal arts college after attending community college.

Thanks for the replies! This definitely makes me feel better about my transcript.

I think I had a total of 5. 4 (non-science) were from undergrad and one (G.Chem2) from my career changing post-bac. It didn't create any problems.

I had about 10 W's (yikes!) but it didn't create a problem and I wasn't asked about it at any of my interviews. I did finish off with a decent GPA though. A couple W's shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Yes, I think I had 9 at least. I withdrew a whole semester my freshman year and went back home. It wasn't an issue.

I have one from freshman year from being overwhelmed by a non science class. Wasn't much of an issue. Friend withdrew from biochem at a different school, her adviser said it wasn't a big deal (she's a junior and it's her only W).
