What does Accept with Contingency mean, exactly? I went to check my status on the WVSOM website, as I have done every 10 minutes since the interview, and suddenly this. No mail or email from them as yet so I have to sleuth this out on my own until official word comes 😉

yup, although I have only 3 credits of English and they require 6. But I was a liberal arts major and have done a lot of paper writing so am hoping it's good enough.

I had the same thing last year, it was due to not having enough English credits completed at the time of my application. The good thing is that you are accepted, congrads. Did the tour guide make fun of SDN again this year?

Better idea to fulfill the requirements than "hope" they dont mind.

Nope, didn't hear anything about SDN. Actually, everyone from the Dean on down was very friendly and open. I got to watch a PBL class for about 45 minutes, which was really interesting. I really like PBL and hope I go to a school that has it.

I have an accept with contingency as well. For me, it's bc I've only had 3 credits of English class. I am taking English 202 next semester which will make me fully eligible to attend med school at most places.

When ever I see interviewees, I always ask them about SDN and you'd be suprised how many people know about SDN.

It means get your deposit in and finish up those remaining credits. 🙂 Be sure your D.O. letter is in too!

Pending that, welcome to WVSOM and PBL! Enjoy your stay friend 8)

JP it's been about a month since I submitted my secondary to PCOM, completing my file. What is PCOM's typical turn-around time. This is prob my first choice for DO and prob 2nd choice overall... I'm quite anxious to tour and interview, but I haven't received any correspondence since the secondary. Should I expect something soon, or should I dig in for the long haul? I started getting interview invites elsewhere and have been a little upset that I haven't gotten one from PCOM especially considering one of my LORs came from a PCOM alum. My worry is that you mentioned that PCOM is not first come, first serve... Would I be considered non-competitive?

Stats:

MCAT: 32Q
GPAs: 3.24/3.05 sci
ECs: Volunteering, 2X shadowing, Student Gov't, Camp Counselor, Peer Mentor...

Thanks for your insight!

Disclaimer: I know you're not on the adcomm, but I'm sure that being an MSV gives you a good perspective on what fellow PCOMers are like academically... sorry if it's a false assumption.
