I just got off the waitlist for WVSOM. I currently hold a seat at LMU DCOM Harrogate and signed a lease. WVSOM has been one of my top schools for so long but I'm wondering if it is worth the stress to swtich. I'm HPSP so cost is not a consideration. However, I am still hoping to get off the waitlist for MSUCOM. Is switching worth the stress so close to the start of school? I know I'm blessed to have this problem but it's a hard decision.

People switch schools this late in the game. It's your call if you know WVSOM is a better fit.

LMU is a pretty terrible med school. If you think highly of the other one (I’m not familiar with that other one) I’d swap.

It's up to you. If you like WVSOM better, then go for it. It might be hard to get out of the lease you already signed, so I would make sure you read what you signed to make sure it doesn't mess with you later. I was in a similar boat and decided to stay with LMU over another school that I liked a lot (but mine was mostly because it was newer and didn't want to risk getting out of my lease that I signed). Let me know what you decide!

I don't hate anyone. The reasons I harp on LMU are: I am removed enough from the institution generally that I can discuss it without being doxxed, I have consistent opinions from probably 15+ students who attended, and also it is (was?) a particularly predatory institution. Every single person I've known IRL who attended there had the same complaints.

Refusing to allow medical students to see patients on their internal medicine rotation (for just one example) is without excuse.

But hey, my friends and the attendings I've met who trained there all graduated a few years ago now, so if the school has done a 180, feel free to share! The purpose of this forum is for people to get multiple perspectives. I'm just telling the original poster what I would tell my little brother or sister. And the other school in this scenario might be even worse, I know nothing about it.

I don't talk about my own alma mater (even though I had a positive experience!) on this forum because I value my privacy. There are also a finite number of questions on SDN I feel qualified to answer.... this is one of a handful of topics. I even try to stay away from adcom discussions these days since I'm no longer reviewing applications.
