WVU- But 1 Year at WVSU First

I am eventually going to WVU SOD but for the first year of undergrad I will be going to WVSU. The reason is money. Since I live near WVSU I would be considered an independent student and be able to commute to school (i.e. no room and board payment). I understand that Biology and Chemistry majors are what is preferred. Any other advise as far as what to major in or classes to take? Has anyone on here went to a different school in the first year and transferred to WVU to finish the undergraduate program there? Have you had any problems with the classes transferring? Does WVU frown upon transferring from a different school to obtain an undergraduate degree?
