What would you do if you were waitlisted at all your pre-December interviews and you had a post-December interview coming up but it’s for a school you are not 100% passionate about and you would be interviewing to be potentially placed on the waitlist. Also, the boss of your recently new job says that you might not be able to take time off for those days you would be traveling to the school for? Should I risk coming back unemployed for a spot on yet another waitlist? Any advice would help 🙂
 
I'd risk it. You need to bet on yourself here. You haven't gotten an acceptance so this is really important. Make the people at your job understand.

I rejected a couple pre-December interviews after I got a couple close ones to my home. I made this decision by knowing I would rather take a gap year and try to get in somewhere I’d love to attend than to be that far from home for 4 years. Hope this helps.

Why did you even apply to these places if you’d rather take a gap year than attend somewhere far from home?

OP, if I were in your situation, I’d probably take the interview.
 
You need to go to the interview!

Because it was a decision I made after realizing I can get into schools close to my home instead of living across the country for 4 years.
 
At the end of the day, you're in control of your decisions and how you choose to proceed. But if you REALLY don't want to attend the school and would rather take a gap year, do it.
 
Go to the interview. Seems like a no brainer.

And do you have acceptances? Or do you now regret this decision?

OP, I'd go to each and every interview you receive until you have at least one acceptance in hand. Then you can afford to be picky/choosey with declining interviews. In regards to the job, you weren't planning on doing that forever anyway, right? That's why you applied to dental school in the first place. I'd try to work things out with both the school and the job, asking the school if they have other days since dentistry is your passion, but you've already taken many days off from work, but you would like to be responsible and keep working to save up a little money for dental school. Maybe they'll give you a Monday or a Friday interview, so then you really only miss one extra day of work (either Thurs or Tues) instead of multiple days?

Who knows, that interview may not place you on the waitlist and may instead give you the opportunity to start school next year, instead of having to reapply all over again (which you already know is a long and tedious process). I'd go! What's meant to happen will happen.

Update: I asked my boss again about taking off to travel and I’ve been approved!! I get to keep my job and go to the interview! Lol
