Ok this is ridiculous, I have an X next to every grade on my verified AMCAS. Unfortunately, nothing was changed. I think the reviewer mistook the check mark with the X and just wrote an X next to everything. DO ADCOMS SEE THIS? If not, I'll just leave it. If they do, I don't want them wondering watsup. Any help guys?

Man, the "what are my chances" and 'Harvard vs. UMich w/fullride" threads are bad, but if one thing truly pisses me off, it's people who give out sics like this. What's the fvcking point? A better way to point it out would be to correctly write it in your response. While I'm on the subject, it's not a spelling error, it's grammatical.

And at any rate, 'passed' and 'past' no doubt diverged from one another recently. (Indeed, the OED tells us that 'passed' was originally an alternate spelling for 'past'.)

And back to the OP's topic: I had the exact same thing happen to me. It didn't matter at all. Nobody cares. Not at all.

Good to know. Still, I would be on the phone with AMCAS trying to figure out what was up.

thank you for the first useful response!

Ok i found out what was wrong, and it is in fact my fault (but I still think it's ridiculous).. I had entered number grades on AMCAS (3.3, 3.7, 4.0) etc. when on my transcript it displayed letter grades (B+, A-, A). I guess I didn't read the instructions clearly.. I thought I just had to enter the number grade that I received so that my score could be calculated easier. Bleh, oh well. If you say it doesn't matter either way.. then so be it. 🙂

Did AMCAS tell you that was the problem? Because I put letter grades for everything and still got X's next to all of my courses too. I doubt it really matters, though, and I don't feel like being on hold for 40 minutes to find out there is nothing I can do about it anyway.

yup they told me that was the problem. and then i asked if this would impact me negatively.. and the guy said something like "some schools might look at it and say oh yea this kid didn't follow directions.. while some schools might not even care".

i have a feeling its more of the latter than the former. who knows. it isn't a big deal. and they won't even know what the reason is for me having those X's.

but yea, i was on hold for about 40 minutes. ridonculous. thank goodness for cingular rollover minutes.

I thought if AMCAS put an X by something it means that they had to make a change, ie you didn't do something EXACTLY the way they wanted it.
I am getting this from the PDF that I printed of my application, last page where they show what SYMBOLS mean like X, /, (U), etc. 👍

An X means something about the way you copied it (you may have copied it exactly) but they way they classified it was different. I had tons of them
and got into Cornell, Hopkins etc. Relax. I worried too.

yup they had to make a change. i entered all number grades when in fact my transcript showed letter grades. therefore they had to take the time out to change all the numbers to letters lol.
