During last year's cycle I received an invitation for the interview at X school and then I got wait-listed at that school. This is my second time applying and I haven't received an invitation for the interview yet. I recently got an email saying that they have finished reviewing my application but they haven't decided to give me an interview yet. It says that they continue to review my application and will get back to me at a future date. I don't understand why I would be given the opportunity to interview last year but not this year even though I have a lot more accomplishment under my belt as well as more extracurriculars.

its a crap shoot man. could be a different person (or group of people) reviewing your application this year. nothing is guaranteed. and nothing makes sense. just keep working to improve your app until you get an acceptance
Thank you... That makes sense but it's still frustrating.

If the reason for your outcome was addressed immediately, there is a possibility that a school might re-interview you. This tends to happen in states with a single public school.
Many schools do not re-interview those they have seen in such a short interval.

A number of schools (like gyngyn's) don't bother with interviewing people they rejected the first time around.

That definitely makes sense to me. I contacted them last year to ask about that exact issue. They told me that you have great scores, experience, everything else. So I tried working on getting more nonclinical volunteer hours which I am getting this year. I have also sent an update letter telling them that. I guess I just have to wait it out.

I see. I felt like a second chance can give me a better chance to sell myself as a good fit for the school. Hopefully, they will give me that chance.

Should I send a letter of interest to the school? Or would this be too early to send?
