So wait, everyone when they go to renew their DEA registration will have to do this even those of us who don't prescribe anything for opioid dependence?
Yes. But see post above. We are looking exempt as board certified pain docs. As are the addiction docs.

also, one should take the article with a modicum of reserve, as this individual is an avid supporter for opioid therapy.

The law specified "for the purpose of maintenance or detoxification". That will be hard to enforce.

Also, it's pretty amazing that a PA or NP who takes an 8 hour course is more able to responsibly prescribe controlled drugs than a board certified pain specialist... Riiiight...

They have more compassion. Doctors are just money hungry.
