seems like Pitt wins based on your list. Lower cost, better support system, higher ranked. Congrats!

I kind of feel as if I may prefer Sinai however. But I don’t want to choose it if it will lower my residency prospects?
I would pick Sinai. When else will you be in your 20s living in NYC for dirt cheap?

However, you can go wrong with either. Go with your gut

I personally don’t think the prestige difference is significant! They’re both T20s. It seems like you prefer Sinai and you’re probably more likely to succeed in an environment where you can thrive

Not to pile on, but please don't choose based on "prestige" as bestowed by the USNews (never mind the fact that there's no difference between them). In particular, PD rankings are a joke (as noted many times in many threads). Med school can and will be a grind. Go where you think you will be happy. If that's near family, that's great. If it's experiencing the UES in NYC in your 20s, that's awesome, too. Congratulations on two great options!

There've been a bunch of threads about the methodology of the USNWR PD rankings here on SDN. One of the main criticisms has been the very low response rate from various PD's across the country.

If you really want to dig deep into USNWR PD rankings, then look at where HMS, JHU, and U Washington (not Wash-STL) reside. I'm not in a place to say that Harvard deserves to be higher than 7 or JHU higher than 9, or that U Washington shouldn't be 2 (this is 2023 data; some guy on reddit went through every school and calculated). But it does make you wonder.

Bottom line is that those rankings really don't matter that much. Look at mission fit, curriculum, comfort with location, "ambience," and match lists.

Moved to School X vs Y.

Total cost as well as factors mentioned by above posters are more important than looking at those random lists for these 2 schools.
