I'm guilty of reaching for a pen or marker but never have gotten to actually putting an X on it

I not only draw X, but also smily faces, fishes, anime characters, and whatever my mood dictates.

I will spell out my address or other people's address and name when ordering anything or giving it to people. Then I'll repeat it back like at work.

I tend to buy groceries in bulk; my pantry has loads of spaghetti boxes, spice jars, and cereal boxes with "X" on them.
