Hey guys and gals....
Last Wednesday, the Xi Psi Phi Fraternity (aka ZIP), Gamma Chapter at Temple had its intiation dinner. The dinner was great, and everyone in my class who has joined the fraternity (both boys and girls) absoultely had no regrets after one year.
The Zip chapter at Temple was on hiatus a few years back, but two junior students wanted to revive it and they did it this year with incredible success.
There was a graduate at NYU who spoke at our dinner who was a member of ZIP back in his NYU days, and he told us a story about how he had to leave his private practice for a while because of health problems, but his fellow ZIP members kept his practice alive until he recovered.
I think the fraternity is a great thing to be a part of, because not only does it surround you with great people, but it also provides you with possible connections. As the doctor from NYU said, "if you guys ever need help gettign into a residency and want to see if your ZIP status can help, just give us a call and we can see what we can do.....you dont realize how much one phone call to a residency director can accomplish"
So, if anyone wants to also revive or start a ZIP chapter at your dental school, I would be more than happy to give you the contact info of the two junior students at my school who were extremely successful at starting our chapter....they could give you great advice and lead you in the right direction in terms of who to contact to start your own chapter. Would look stellar on a CV!
By the way, are there any other ZIP brothers or sisters floating around these forums??
