I know it must have been cool 'cuz it was also the opening day of the new medical building. tell tell tell! how was it? what was your overall impression? And how many of you who went will be attending? Good luck to everyone in their decision making!

For the sake of consistency:
Yale Revisit Grade Report:

Drunk first year [male, not in shape] mooning perspectives at 'Club Med': 'W'

Free Silver Coffee Mugs at Building Grand Opening: 'A-'

Carb Heavy Revisit Lunch: 'B'

Dinner in New Haven on Yale: 'A'

Prententious dousche-bag from Princeton at my table: 'D-' [had a funny tie]

Conclusion: The Yale revisit would only get into Yale with peace corps experience. Which is convenient given 1/2 the people there had it.

As Yaladelic as it was, I will be going to school in Tartarstan instead.

Hope that Helps.

Hope that Helps.

Hey indianboy, or anyone, can you post on what the typicial Yale Med student is like??? Or generally what the feeling you got from the students was? I had to miss 2nd Look but have narrowed it down to Yale and another school. Thanks for any help,

I know several REALLY, and I mean REALLY REALLY annoying people either at Yale or planning to go to YSM. These people are very narcissistic and whiners. I don't know other people, but these are people I do know. Just a story of personal experience. I was surprised that 2 of these people were accepted because they didn't get into any other schools in the top 30. Random

K, that was informative....

*ANYONE* can ANYONE tell me something about how 2nd lookweekend was besides the person who was rejected and holds some animosity? thank!

I'm at Yale right now and I have to say that it rocks... just took a tour of the new CAB and it's pretty amazing. I must say that Yale students are by far the happiest students I have seen out of 9 schools... any other Second Lookers from last week decided on Yale?

Uh, indianboy, you don't happen to go to a university in Upstate New York do you? I think I may have met you at Cornell's Second Look.

So for everyone who was at the 2nd look weekend, how would you characterize the other students as far as their certainty of matriculation? Were most of the students set on Yale or were there a lot of people who were still keeping their options open? I'm currently on the waiting list and I talked to Mr. Silverman today and he told me there's been extremely little waiting list movement so far but he thinks it's more because people are holding multiple acceptances rather than people being set on Yale because most of the competitive schools haven't had much waitlist movement so far. Any thoughts that might relieve this waitlist-weary soul?

i will be sending the letter to withdraw my acceptance tomorrow. sadness. (i'm a nice person, i swear -- i was just waiting for financial aid stuff, which came like 2 days ago.) i have a feeling there will be a fair amount of waitlist movement, and i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Fava,

You don't have to defend holding onto acceptances until May 15th. I totally understand that people have to wait for financial aid info or sometimes they just can't make up their mind. It is nice to know that there will be one more open space though. Thanks for the reply and good luck wherever you decide to go.

Sachin,

I met Shep this weekend at WashU Scholarship/revisit. Cool guy, glad I got to know him a little.

Also, I met PK (South Asian at Harvard U). He knows you too. Man, the South Asian community is networked ... 👍

JH

Very nice, PK is one of my best friends.. we grew up together since 2nd grade. Shep's cool too, though PK called me after the WashU scholarship thing and told me Shep was acting all weird when he mentioned my name to Shep. Gotta love the drama that is UVA.

And yes, the South Asian community is very networked. I have the distinction of knowing many who makes my achievements look this small

The more I hear and think about, the happier I am that I never fell in to the pre-med crowd and just stayed away from that mess. It sounds like a helluva bunch of CRAP to me. Just some thoughts on the whole process...
