I for one have never been so insulted in my life. Can Yale not get their act togeather to treat their waitlist like human beings???? I waited a hour to get through to them and then wasn't able to talk to anyone.

HELLO!!!! WE WORK TOO!!! WE HAVE SCHOOL!!!!! SEND US AN EMAIL PLEASE!!! WHY DO YOU MAKE US JUMP THROUGH ALL THESE HOOPS JUST TO FIND SOMETHING OUT THAT EVERY OTHER SCHOOL WILL TOLD US WEEKS AGO!?!?!?!

1:30 to 3:30???? could you please pick a more obnoxious time? I can't believe how rediculous Yale is being. I use to think they were an awesome school, but now I'm seriously considering withdrawing because I am so pissed off. How many people on the waitlist? 200? More? And we're all trying to call and speak with one person? What genius thought up that idea?

Even if I do get in, its going to take a lot to get the bad taste out of my mouth after the experience I've had with them these past two days.

I have to admit it's been really frustrating. I called so many times today and I didn't even get a ring tone until 3:24, and the lady said "Dean Silverman has stepped away from the office. Call tomorrow" And I said, I tried yesterday too, do you think you could just put me on a list to get a call tomorrow?

She was like, "I could put you on a list, but well there's no guarantee, it'd be better if you just called again."
And I said, I will call again but I'd also like to be put on a list if possible and she was like:
"SIGH, give me your name"

This is our education we're asking about not whether or not we put a pickle on our hamburger. And I agree, why can't we all just get an email or ask an assistant where am I on the waitlist? Thanks bye! (2 minutes!)

Thank you so much Corbin--I have been waiting for someone to post their frustrations. I COMPLETELY agree with you, I have a full-time job, where in the world do they get the idea to put us through this? Is the expectation that we have 6 hours to sacrifice and charge more on our phone bill? What do we need to prove to them now? I too spent an hour (after sneaking out of work) calling and calling and calling and calling and calling and calling -- and of course I did not get through--i feel so foolish doing this because it is truly is insulting.

My LORs got lost somehow, and because they stated 'DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL' in such huge letters I just waited for about a month and a half before I got up the courage to call them about it. I was told they couldn't look that up for me. I waited a few weeks more and then emailed them about it. No one responded to my email. I finally re-sent the letters, and was eventually complete in December! How hard would it have been to just check on the letters for me? 😡

ME TOO! They lost my letters, when I finally got up enough guts to call, the woman told me to wait for the page to be updated, I called back again and they finally checked for me - the letters weren't there and my premed advisor had to fax them to Yale b/c it was already past the deadline. 😡 😡

I got that email just now too! I found that to be very fitting and a bit weird. But it is true, some of us work full time, some of us have to be with our bosses in meetings, and not all of us have the luxury of just popping out of work to call and just keep getting that "Hello, your call is important to us, please try again" hang up message.

Maybe they do read SDN, but if they do, they should at least know that we're really trying already, and we just want a process that makes us have to hassle the office less. It's not like we appreciate ourselves more for being pscyho paranoids who call every 20 seconds!

Actually yes there is a high waitlist, and if you saw the SDN poll, very few people were on it. (not that SDN polls are very good at gauging an entire population).

However, since I have spoken with Dean Silverman just today, I'd like to think he wouldn't just lie to all callers for fun. He let me know that the waitlist works as Group 1, 2 and 3. Group 1 is "very small" and everyone on it gets in eventually (usually late May). Group 2 is "also small" and in the "average year", they generally do get through it, just at a later date and time, their prediction being "June, early to mid June." Of course, he can't be sure because of "factors that are out of our control."

Group 3, only gets touched in years where Group 2 is also exhausted. Which sounded very sad.

I was also told that the waitlist "isn't highly stratified." He told me to be "cautiously optimistic" and that I was in the "upper half of Group 2" and had a "very solid position."

I think maybe Group 1 already got in, but that's just me being optimistic. Me being cautious says, they can still look at you and change their mind on your ranking.

I'm not expecting to get in, Reimat, just some common courtesy would be nice. 🙄
