Since I'm taking the Aug 9th MCAT, I just need to get the secondaries in before the score comes out which would be early September. (Meaning I don't need to rush my LOR writers to hurry up and finish the letters in the next 1-2 weeks)

This is what happens as far as I know: you ultimately need to have your recs in before the deadline for the AMCAS application for that school, which is before the deadline for the secondary. Some schools will not send you secondary applications until after you are complete (AMCAS, transcripts, MCAT scores, LORs) while some do. Regardless, you can start working on them when you get questions from SDN.

This is what I did: I retook the MCAT in August, finished my AMCAS after I took the test (submitted in september, complete october), then started working on secondaries right away from info on SDN. I finished all secondaries (23) in one month, which is pretty damn hard to do, and as the invitations for secondaries came in, I sent them out like rockets because i had them done.

This is my advice: dont worry about the AMCAS application and focus on the MCAT . Then you have to crank it out asap after the test
