Hey all,

I just finished putting together my potential list of schools to apply to. I need help trimming down my list because I'm currently at 28 schools but I'd like to keep it in the range of 20-25 schools. I understand that it's expensive and I'm not rich but money is not an object in these situations imo. Feel free to mention any good private schools I might've missed.

Here's my stats:
3.2x sGPA
3.3x oGPA
23 AA/24 TS
100 shadowing, 100 volunteer
NJ resident

Rugters
NYU
Touro
Tufts
BU
Creighton
UNE
Midwestern-AZ
Midwestern-IL
MOSDOH
Roseman
LECOM
Louisville
Case Western
Temple
Pitt
Marquette
WesternU
UNLV
Nova
Kentucky
Maryland
Minnesota
Michigan
UDM
USC
UoP
UCSF

For Nova, their website says minimum 3.25 sGPA which I am slightly below. Still worth it?
Also, does it hurt your chances to apply to 20+ schools?
Thanks in advance 🙂

Doesn't hurt your chances to apply to more than 20 schools (definitely hurts your wallet though). If you are looking to trim down, I'd say take out Nova and a few of the state universities

Remove the CAL schools besides Westen Id say. Prolly should still get rid of western. 12-15 schools maximum is what I'd do in your situation.

Ok gotcha. Any state universities in particular that come to mind? I tried to only go for the ones that seem to have a decent percentage of out of state enrollees based on Doc Toothache's guide.
Are any of your credits from a CC?
Yes, but no science credits. The only CC credits I have are humanities and math classes (calculus). These were all a few CC classes I took while I was in highschool. All science prereqs were done at my university. I think BU says they dont want any science prereqs done at CC but math prereqs are the exception, if I understood it correctly.

I see, I could remove them all but Western is right in my range GPA wise. As for USC, their science GPA is somewhat close to mine. Why not keep that one? UoP was a bit of a reach, but I read on SDN that they like high DAT. Still not worth keeping? UCSF is definitely gonna go though.

Ok, it sounds like you should be good with Temple and Pitt. Pitt requires no more than 1/3 cc credits overall regardless of if its a prereq. I might be wrong, but I think Temple requires all prereqs to be taken at a 4 year university
Great I think I'm good with them too then. I only have like 20 CC credits so that's less than 1/3. And Temple doesn't require math so I'm good there too. Thanks!

USC is just so ridiculously expensive. You don't want to open that can of worms. Also, you should think about potential living costs when making these decisions.

I see. I'd just like to cast a wide net just in case but hopefully I'll be fortunate enough to have options.
