Taken this morning...
AA - 22
TS - 22
PA - 18
QR - 19
RC - 22
Bio - 30
GC - 21
OC - 18 😡
Here is my breakdown.
PAT - Same as everybody said. Much harder than Topscore. Never quite got around to using the ACEtheDAT.com version. Cubes harder. Holepunch easy. Apetures harder. Projections - same. Angles - same. Paperfold, easy, but I ran out of time because I had to rework 2 cube problems that I was messed up on. Scored 20, 23, 20 on Topscore.
QR - Same as everyone says. I only used Topscore and the GRE math study guide. I made notecards with formulas and memorized them. Socred 18, 18, 18 on TS.
Reading. Not like Topscore. I had three off the wall long and hard science articles complete with reading comprehension (the author implies...., the best finish for this article would be..., etc.). TS scores 29, 23, 25. This is more like the RC from the CD test from the Kaplan book (expect that the Kaplan interface sucks).
Bio - I thought this section was extremely hard and very picky in one's knowledge of bio. I studied this subject the most this summer. I took summer school for the physiology (plant and animal) first session, and had an advanced genetics class second session. I didn't study from Kaplan much at all. I used the Campbell textbook and read that thing multiple times over the course of the summer. Having my physio class earlier helped greatly because I didn't have to study at all for plants. I had about 3000 vocabulary flashcards that I built from my bio classes over the past year and I also bought the AP BIO (REA) at Podil's advice. This book had six practice exams that were great practice. Revisit the basics of cell bio. Ecology and evolution had a good presence (i.e. Hardy Weinberg, speciation, etc.). Genetics was piece of cake if you can do basic crosses and recognize patterns (i.e. 9:3:3:1 or 1:1:1:1). If you are still a year away from the DAT, my advice is to study like mad in your bio classes because it was the one thing that allowed me to nail this section. My physio teacher made us learn all the phyla (i.e. protostomes, coelomates, etc.) and this knowledge was nice to have. Really basic muscles, endocrine, nervous system, reproduction, and other vertebrate physio. TS = 18, 18, 20.
GC. I reviewed my whole chemistry book because it had been awhile. That didn't help much and I was confused so I bought Examkrackers for the MCAT (1001 Questions). This was a nice warm up. The Kaplan book has a great GC section and I used this the past three weeks as the primary source of my studying. The solubilities chapter is important to know. See other peoples posts for this one. TS = 19, 16, 19.
OC. I am still bewildered. I can do synthesis with 20 steps, I scored 98 and 99 in OC 1 and 2 at UTexas, but could not get the hang of what this section wanted. All I can say is know first semester extremely well and aromatics, because I saw some hard questions. For those of you that don't have exposure to fischer projections, work on these. TS = 17, 18, 19.
Overall, my story is such. Two bio classes this summer (key to the bio section). I studied for about 2.5 months including summer school. I just finshed OC this spring so I am surprised at my score, but I am not going to complain overall. I began looking at PAT stuff two years ago and was familiar with the sections, but my only exposure in the past two months was taking Topscore.
I saw a posting earlier this week that had great advice. Keep your nose in a book and stop reading these posts unless you have specific questions on Topscore. My other advice is to not take it during Olympic week.
Good luck.
