What's your point? This story was from a year and a half ago, and was discussed ad nauseam on here back then.
Alot of people discourage potential doctors from becoming doctors by implying there is a certain way(character, personality, temperament,) you must be to become a doctor. I'm not saying there shouldn't be a standard for becoming a doctor, but I think we should be honest about that, when there is a significant amount of doctors who clearly weren't built for it.

I don’t get the term, “built for it.” You mean they need a dose of professionalism?

This is literally old news, and I don't think you even really know what your own point was. You're contradicting yourself. You're calling out people who say that you need certain intrinsic qualities to become a doctor, but then also agreeing with them by posting this video to demonstrate that this doctor didn't have those qualities? I feel like you just wanted a reason to post in the Med Student Forum...

I mean that doctor made it through grueling 11-15 years of training to dance while performing surgery, and leaving people with brain damage. Not really a contradiction.

Forgive our incredulity, but you're a high school student who posted an old news story with little context on a med student forum. We're just not sure what you're getting at. What are these qualities one needs or doesn't need to become a physician? And once we understand these qualities, what are you proposing that we do with them?

I don't understand why you started this thread.

I dont know why you keep responding. You sound pretty desperate for a conflict. My point was made already.

Really? lol. Do you have the time to ask every thread what its point is? And who is we? You're only speaking for yourself .
And I thought med students who barely have time outside their studies anyways, would spend it not on responding several times on an online forum.

that was pretty poorly written, but then again I dont have much time to start or maintain conflicts with people online

Wonder why some people criticize, when they get triggered when I do it back. Wasnt even be rude. Im out this b

We is everyone besides you who reads this thread. You never answered my question either. While I agree that this dermatologist doing cosmetic surgery in Georgia seems a little off with her dancing, I don’t understand what you mean by “built for it.” To me it sounds like your saying doctors like this are naturally born (built) with the inability to be a good physician.

And the point of participating in forums is to have conversations with others. Why post something if you don’t want to talk about it?

Geez, I really feel like everything I do on this forum turns confrontational.
I mean that people ( many a times on this forum)say you shouldnt bother doing medicine because you lack characteristics that med schools so very much vet you for, while people like this woman and many many other doctors got through. I say this because it is not seen this way in basically any other career. You dont have to be a certain way. Its kind of hard to explain, but I think this is well known about the medical career

There are a significant number of professions that usually require an interview to vet personalities and qualities. Heck to get a job usually requires an interview, and you apply with a resume. There are plenty of people who suck at their job or make very questionable decisions in their profession.

Medical school interviews are at most a few hours of getting to know someone. Most of the time answers are rehearsed and the committee goes on letters of recommendation or academic achievement to make a decision. Of course unprofessional individuals slip through the cracks. There are also a lot of IMGs who enter medicine without going through the rigorous vetting process of a US school.

It’s not that everything you do on this forum is confrontational, it’s just that it seems you can’t articulate what you want to say very well. I mean, you’re in high school right? Can’t blame you there. Also, most people tell others here that medicine is not for them if they are unprepared academically, or have a history of multiple interviews and no acceptances which raises a red flag about their personality. No one just tells someone they shouldn’t pursue medicine without a reason. There are expectations in every profession, and I do not agree with what you just said.

To be clear, I am not being confrontational. I am giving counter-arguments to points you make that to me, don’t really make any sense.
