Yuck! Still struggling with PS, getting 8-9 on GS tests. I pretty much get all of the questions they label as "difficult" or "intense" but have a tendency to miss the "normal" and even some of the "easy" questions. I really struggle with math. Any tips for this? It's the same in BR... all the chapters others think are so hard are the ones I scored best on, but I sometimes get tripped up in things like unit conversion and kinematics.

First, drop GS. I'm not quite sure why you're using that crap.

And practice the basic math stuff if that's hurting you. It looks like you've an identified the weakness, so start working to fix it.

I don't think its crap, its good practice and will help you with weakspots.. although the later tests 7-10 are mostly just good for content practice.. Because they will have entire passages of 1 topic etc.. ie whole passage of VSPER lol.. Not indicative of AAMC. I still like it for the sciences, but they do get pretty demanding.

Yep, I'm chugging away. It truly is purely psychological. I make stupid mistakes like reversing signs because there's this part of my brain saying "OMG!!!! It's the PS section!!!!!!!" Remnant of my traumatic Kaplan experience. I have to say though, with VERY few exceptions, this IS the story of my mistakes. Versus last year when I had significant timing issues and was really in the dark on many of the concepts. Now I actually have logical thought processes pertaining my answers... which is a nice change.

I'm using the GS tests with plans to also use BR plus the AAMC's I haven't done. Just figured it would be good to do as many as possible since you never know what they're going to throw at you.

On a side note, I never quite got that whole "OMG, Kaplan is SO hard I can't do it" thing. What makes people think Kaplan science material is so difficult? Most of it is simple conceptual stuff. After TBR, Kaplan has seemed like a cakewalk to me. It has far less calculation, which I think it is quite nice. It's all concept questions.

Are you talking about the q bank? Because their PS qbank is way harder than the TBR exams or so I thought.

It's not quite that, just that I didn't feel at all prepared after Kaplan. Every time I took a FL, I was running into something that was barely covered in content review, or something I didn't know how to tackle in an "MCAT-appropriate" way. So even though I have a much stronger grasp on PS concepts this time around, part of me still freaks out....
