Who here thinks all these House victories are going to be a good thing for Anesthesiologists? I'm no Democrat but I certainly don't trust any politician but Republicans, the LAST thing they want to do is go against "corporate America". I expect them to view us as "expenses" for "corporate America". After all, it's always been Republican Governors "opting out". First, they'll look to substitute us with mid-levels as Boehner's logical/"common sense" way of cutting costs. Fine. Then the mid-levels will fall victim- be outsourced, even less training. Fine. Whatever. Heck even Surgeons will be outsourced.

Of course, the threat from us of walking out, of not taking private insurance is probably a "chess like move" they already anticipate. Lot of sacrifices in store...

Then 20 to 30 years from now, as the new generation grows up, they'll have even less quality than we did. What's worse- the entire concept of working hard for a good and respectful living, that whole concept that will be long gone and out the window.

Of course, Insurance companies will profit. The American Hospital Association will profit even more.

In fact, not just us as Physicians, but the entire country will be devoid of not just quality Medical care, but in fact revenue.

When individuals make $$, we pay taxes. When hospitals and "non-profit" entitites make $$, they are not taxed. Consequently, the wealth shift will be even greater. Tax revenue will be even lower. We'll be worse off. Everyone will be worse off.

The CRNA/AA/PA mid-levels... I wonder if they see this big picture.

Well, this is what I foresee.

Cheers.

I wonder if they see this big picture.

The big picture I see is Democrats & Republicans arguing bitterly over where the deck chairs should go, blaming each other for tilting the floor.

There's trouble brewing for medicine and anesthesiology, but wonder if we'll actually feel that impact before everything is overshadowed by what the Fed's cooking these days.

The Democrats wildly spend money we don't have. The Republicans slash revenue we desperately need. And the Fed prints money like we live in Zimbabwe.

CRNAs are the least of our worries.
