LOL. I want to be like u someday, Z. But minus the car, the obnoxiousness and pompousness. Although I wonder if these traits are required to be a successful DOP.

Not quite as bad as some of the other's mentioned in this thread, but is there really a market for Staxyn? I just can't see where 15 - 30 minutes quicker time would make that big of a difference in real people's lives.

But it's an ODT!

Actually, I thought it had the same onset as Levitra, but was actually a little bit cheaper. At least this one isn't something where you have an old generic; the comparators are all still branded.

Our local pharmacy association is having a promotional dinner in a few days for Bydureon, which is extended release Byetta. I doubt if this will be a blockbuster, because Byetta certainly hasn't been, mainly because it has such unpleasant side effects.

Bydureon is priced lower than Victoza, iirc. That might be an important factor. Although the administration sucks, since it's not a pen. Need to reconstitute and draw it up. Not sure about Bydureon, but Byetta you can always administer closer to mealtime to cut down on the side effects, at a cost of reduced efficacy. While not a blockbuster, it definitely has a place in therapy.

got a script today at a pharmacy for Altoprev. I don't know if it's new but it was new to me!

Lovastatin ER. :lame:

I dispensed Exalgo last summer and had no idea it was a control 2. This drug was very expensive and I never heard of it. Does it work very well?

Since it's hydromorphone, it could shape up to be the next Oxycontin. (NB Oxycontin was just d/ced where I practice, as of March 1st, and the main government drug plan refuses to pay for OxyNEO. We've got people eating Duragesic patches.)

Re the thread topic: how about olmesartan as the 1st drug prescribed for a newly dxed hypertensive?

(Victoza for the newly dxed T2DM: been there, done that.)

Had a patient call looking for Silenor tonight. Was honestly surprised we had it. He was quite appreciative when I opened his eyes.

Yes you do want bazillion auto sub to keep the cost and inventory down. Then if not already, you can build a streamlined formulary onto CPOEay.

Hmmmm.... Restrictive formulary, limiting what doctors prescribe, not letting doctors go crazy and do whatever they want or the patient wants.....

Are you doing what's right for the patientz?

We only do this to mirror pbm formulary so when patients discharge they have a smooth transition to available medications in the name of medication reconciliation.

Auto sub doesn't mean restrictive formulaty. We have preferred meds. But every medication is available as long as clinical justification is there. Penny pinching, penny fool dollar wise we are not. Our goal is to treat the patients effectively and discharge them and do it right so the patient isn't readmitted with the same drg.
