Dear guys,

If an independant applicant is offered a pre-match position, and signed a contract with the program...

1-How can he withdraw from the match? Where to go? What steps to take?

and

2-When must he withdraw from the match?

also

3)-Can he still go on to his scheduled interviews after withdrawing from the match in hopes of getting a better pre-match deal?

Thank you very much

1) Log onto your NRMP account (www.nrmp.org) - under Edit your Profile - select Withdraw (don't know about the next steps as I haven't clicked that button!!)

2)Must withdraw before rank order list deadline

http://www.nrmp.org/res_match/special_part/ind_app/withdraw_new.html

3) Does not equate with your first sentence. If you have already signed a written contract, and now have taken steps 1 & 2 above... why are you attending interviews for a "better" pre-match deal - it is unethical and you have possibility of being sued as you already have signed a written contract.

Hope that helped!

Once you sign the contract it isn't negotiable. If you were planning on looking for a better offer then you shouldn't have accepted the first one.

Thanks for the great info.

Yes, I signed a contract and I am OK with it although it is not my #1 choice, but it is a good university program, oh well. It is just that I feel guilty cancelling all my remaining interviews. I have a lot of them left! Most of them are not as good at the one I signed up for, but it just feels weired cancelling interviews I worked so hard to get...I am an USIMG.

Anywhoo, I will cancell all my interviews as you guys suggested.

Thanks again.
