As the application season winds down, and with the Entertainment Industry Award season concluded, what would be your medical school acceptance speech (less than 1 minute is the usual time limit)? Mine is below:

First and foremost, it took a village to get me into medical school: My mentors, my professors, and my PIs for their guidance, encouragement, and a few kicks in the ass at appropriate intervals; My friends and fraternity brothers, who may not have understood my lack of participation in all the weekend revelries, but now see the fruits of being focused; My parents, who were my editors, travel agents, bankers and cheerleaders. And finally, for my sister, I pass on the wealth of knowledge of the application process, it is your turn next year!!

Due to your avatar, I imagined your entire speech recited by Colbert. And I loved it.

I might sound stupid by asking but most med schools don't actually have you do this do they?

Absolutely, at the white coat ceremony, you have to give 1 minute speech, thanking everyone from preschool on. NOT!!! But it would be nice to thank a few folks personally who were instrumental in your journey. I've had a lot of emails/phone calls in just the last week or so from Professors, mentors, asking the outcome and I let them know they were part of my successful season. I owe them a lot more than the Zingermans care packages I sent them.
