Currently I go to the Borough of Manhattan Community College where I have 2semester left before I graduate. Currently I have yet to take science classes, but I will this fall 2007. For graduation requirements, I have to take science courses in order to graduate. I was thinking of taking math based physics, but my question is, Should I bother to take more science classes, such as chem and bio in order to get those out the way for med school...or should i wait and take them at whichever university i plan to attend afterwards?

My theory is that if i take chem, physics, and bio at my CC, i would be able to take more advanced science courses at the more pretigious university, plus it would save me some time when med. school applications come about.

your thoughts would be highly valuable, thanks.

OP, this question has been asked numerous times. Use the search function and you'll be sure to come up with more threads on this subject than you can read.

The jury is out on what is actually best; however, I agree with this poster:

There are very, very few medical schools that won't consider you if you have taken your pre-reqs at a community college. I am a current M1 and I took Gen Chem II, Organic I & II, and Physics I & II at a community college.

I think the consensus on SDN has been to take as many of your pre-reqs at a university as possible - but it is not a requirement. If you have worries about it, call/email the schools you plan to apply to and ask their opinion.

Take a look at some of the previous threads and make your own assessment. Good luck in deciding what is best for you!

thank you and sorry, i should have searched first.
