Just received an e-mail from AACOMAS saying my application has been verified.

In my account it says:

Current: Verified.
Release dates appear next to schools.

However, there is no release date next to any of my schools.

Everything just says Submitted to AACOMAS, now what?

Dear [chicago5950],

Your AACOMAS application has been verified and will be released to the colleges.

All newly verified applications and any application updates that are completed by Tuesday morning are sent once a week, on Tuesday morning and made available to the colleges on Wednesday. You will not see the release date of your application for a few days (until approximately Thursday afternoon) to allow time for the colleges to download the application/data. Please note, the colleges have varying schedules for downloading and acting upon applications.

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us via email or telephone.

Thank you.

What exactly is your question?

If your question is about the lack of release dates on your application, it is because your application has not been released to schools yet. It's in plain writing: all newly verified applications will be sent once a week, on Tuesday morning. If you just received this message and your application has just been verified, then of course your application will not be sent until Tuesday morning. You won't see anything until approximately Thursday afternoon.

I thought the verification process took approximately 2-6 weeks.. no?

but I submitted June 1... and I was verified today

Don't expect to get anything from schools until Early July.

Eh... maybe you were, maybe not. It depends on when you submit, so maybe you were one of the first ones to submit and just got verified early. Starting July/August/September... verification usually takes longer (around 5-6 weeks) since that's when most people are submitting, so there's a lot of traffic.

I remember last cycle something about how AACOMAS doesn't release the first batch of applications to schools until the 3rd week of June. I may be wrong about this...

But wait a couple days. AACOMAS usually sends applications to schools every Wednesday or Thursday, so since it's only Sunday... your application might be sent later this week. It doesn't get sent to schools right when you get verified.

Yeah, I am a re-applicant. Last year it took me about 3-4 weeks to get "Verified". That's why I'm asking; and also I am aware that aacomas sends to schools every Tuesdays. I was just planning on putting the whole application material on the back of my mind for 3-4 weeks but was surprised to see an e-mail today saying I was verified

Release dates are essentially the day that the school is sent the app and then they have to download it. Every school is different. DCOM, for example, seems to traditionally download new apps on Fridays but other schools may not be the same.

Once the school has your app in their hands a "View" link will appear next to each school that has downloaded your app. You can click this link and see exactly what the school got from you. It's interesting to see how all of your application information gets condensed into a 3-4 page PDF document.

Verification times vary. One of the perks to submitting June 1 is a quick turnaround - in this case just a few days. Around August-October your wait time is more like a month. It just depends on when they have the most applications sitting in front of them. Basically, by submitting June 1, you're way ahead of the ball game.

I'm surprised they did verifications over the weekend.

Am I the only one who didn't get the verification email? I sent in my app on the 1st of June and when I log into AACOMAS it says "receipt" by each school I chose to send my app to. Does everyone else's AACOMAS that got the verification email look the same? thanks!

I submitted and didn't get an email, but I think there might be an error in my coursework section, which will probably delay my verification. I'm still waiting to hear back from them on an email I sent them.

did you have everything in? like MCAT/transcripts/payment all said "RECEIVED?" or the check mark?

if so, you'll prob receive an e-mail today.

I also didn't get the verification e-mail. Mine still says processing on the site.

I just got the verification email at about 9:30 AM and I submitted about 1:00PM EST on 6/1.

🙂

I submitted about an hour ago : ) Guess I'm a little behind! I'm jealous you all have already been verified - how exciting! You must have been like THEE first batch of applicants!

Question: I was surprised I didn't receive a "we've received your payment" etc. email yet - did any of you get an email right after you submitted? On the AACOM website I've got the green checkmark next to "payment received"...do they just not send any emails?

I don't recall ever getting that email when I applied last year, as I don't see it in my inbox (I could have deleted it). There's no sense in getting flustered about not receiving an email for every little detail. If you have that green check mark, then you're fine. You can always call and ask if everything is there, but if I was the guy answering the phone at AACOMAS and somone asked me that (with the green check mark), I would probably be like "damn these pre-meds."

This process is stressful enough- don't let something like that bother you. Relax.

Mine says "verified" but I didn't receive an e-mail. It's said it for some time now. Hmmm

Did you check your spam filter? I've lost emails in there before!

Just got verified. I submitted June 1st at 12:03pm. I am shocked as last year they took 4-5 weeks and this time I just had to wait 3 days. Thought I would have more time to relax before I kick it into overdrive for the secondaries. Oh well.

All of my "things" on the right side have a check mark and have had a check mark for a good week or more. I guess I'll just wait a week and see how things unfold.

Blah. I can't submit mines yet until my Spring Quarter grades come out...mid-June....

Same here...all checks, no verify, yet.

Are you on the quarter system too? Or you submitted but just aren't verified. I feel super...late. I'm on the quarter system and I have to wait till my grades are on my transcripts till I can send and submit..

You aren't late. We're just super early. Try your best to get in your primary before the end of June and you're still early IMO. Good luck 🙂

lol it doesn't matter whether you're already verified or verified 3-4 week of june. i spoke to a few schools today theyre like... we won't even download your apps until 3-4 weeks in.

👍

I can't help but laugh when people say they're late mid to late June  That represents the attitude of many SDNers in a nutshell.

I'm actually just waiting for my App to be verified...my grades and everything else are in.

And yes, Im sure we are all ok still...but as a re-applicant, I NEEDS TA BE VERIFIED YESTERDAY!!!!!!! 😉

Yeah....I think I've been spending way too much time on SDN......Every little thing worries me. LOL.

Enjoy the application cycle... lol. LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of waiting and anxiety, best to save your current anguish for later 😉

Calm down folks. I had a friend who applied for DO school in March ("what do you mean rolling admissions?") and she ended up with 5 acceptances. This in-before-the-seats-fill attitude is only rampant on SDN.

If you're complete at schools by late August you're basically still ahead of the curve by a longshot.

March is extremely late. Did she have awesome stats or something?

Not particularly. 3.6ish on both cGPA and sGPA, minority, and I believe a 24M on the MCAT. Applying early is incredibly important for statistical reasons but if schools want you they'll take you, if there's a seat, regardless of when your application hits the desk.

I have my own theory that some on SDN rush their application, resulting in less than stellar content/writing, and don't see the amazing results of early submission that they expected. There's no reason to do that. This is the most important application of your academic life thus far. Take your time!

For DCOM I was complete on a Monday in October, given an interview date on that same Wednesday (that's 2 days later), and got the acceptance call on that same Friday (2 days later). My application was complete and I was accepted within 5 business days. However, by SDN standards my application was ~four months late.

For future applicants, ask yourself what's more important in the process. Sitting on your app for an extra week or two and looking at it with a fresh eye to make sure you're satisfied or shotgunning it out June 1 hell or high water because people on SDN said that's the right thing to do.

Just my 2 cents!

if she wasnt a minority with a 3.6 it prob wouldnt have went so well..

Well said. Although there is a benefit to applying early, applying with mediocre materials is worse than sending in the primary in July or August.

Anyways, I just got verified 🙂

Mine is still processing too.

Do you get an email notification that it has been verified? I'm tired of checking the AACOMAS website.

I got an email and I also had a message waiting for me when I logged into my AACOMAS account.

Interesting... my "AACOMAS Status" is verified but I haven't receieved any messages or emails at all.

If it says verified that you are probably verified. Just to be safe, why not call AACOMAS tomorrow for some peace of mind.

I'm going to be blunt. This is bad advice and you should feel bad.

Ok maybe you shouldn't feel bad, but rolling admissions is no joke. Applying in October ruined my app last year. Unless you are sitting on incredible stats and application, applying in march is flushing money down the toilet.

I disagree with that. My undergrad pre-med committee advisers pushed applying as early as possible. Needing to apply the very first minute of the very first day, however, is unique to SDN.

What were your stats? I think people with lower stats definitely need to apply asap. Again, not necessarily the first day, but at least before August. I personally planned to apply June 1 and June 5 and finished everything a few weeks earlier so I could do exactly what you said; look at it all with a fresh eye. I was satisfied with how everything looked except for a few typos I found in EC descriptions, so I submitted.

Edit: However, all of the pre-med committee stuff was about MD schools only. Perhaps it is less important for DO schools.

I submitted on Monday, all green checks and waiting for verification still. I'm thinking that first year applicants such as myself should just expect it to take 3 weeks or so, right? Are all the people already getting verified re-applicants?

I'm a first time applicant and I'm pretty sure I was pre-verified. (Verified since I submitted). Maybe because all of my transcripts were in somewhat quick? (10th).

i wonder if it takes longer for me because im an exercise science major and they have to check all my other science courses or something lol

I didn't advocate applying in March - just saying it has happened. I advocate not submitting a mediocre app on June 1st because SDN told you to vs. sending a stellar app on June 30th because you let an English professor or someone help you with it. I've probably read a hundred personal statements on here over the years, some of them re-applicants from which I requested their original PS, and I think to myself, "No one read this for them, ever." You would be surprised the things people submit to AACOMAS.
