Since I am about to start the application process sometime early next year, I decided to read up on what makes a great application. As I was reading, I stumbled upon some questions that seems very interesting to me, such as, "Where do you see yourself ten years from now?" I know there are some actual crazy ones, like " what flavor of ice cream would you be? and why?"(this was from an interview by the way, you get bonus if you figure out which one it is 😛)

So, I was just curious what your personal favorite question is(was) out of the whole application process?

Anything that required a one word answer:

For example:

Are you a United States Citizen?

Have you ever committed a felony?

Are you applying to the M.D./Ph.D. Program?

Haha.... I suppose that would be nice after all those essay questions 😀

What was a hardship or challenge that you grew up with, because it was hands down the best essay I wrote the whole cycle, and I loved using it 😀

My favorite in terms of the question itself was a lesson that has often been repeated on SDN, don't lie about what you have done. I wrote an essay about my passion for medical history, and when I got to the interview my guy leaned back and said "Summarize medical history and what you think the biggests changes have been in the last 2000 years." Fortunately, I had not been lieing!

how will you contribute to the diversity of our one-dimensional school?

1. do it in 500 characters
2. do it in 750 characters
3. do it in 1000 characters
4. do it in 1250 characters
5. do it in 1500 characters
6. do it in 1699.4 characters
..... so on times do it in 10000 characters

😆. I'm with you.

I am with the OP on enjoying the future-oriented questions. I absolutely hated anything that seemed like it asks for a rehash of my personal statement or having to go in-depth on any one activity. I didn't mind the "why our school" questions because it seemed like they actually had a point.

Have you really heard questions like that?

That's an easy one. I would be espresso bean surprise! And the why, Because it would give me an excuse to stay at home licking myself all day...

I am a fan of the "why our school" or "why do you think you would be a good fit for our school" questions for essays, because I think they are the most relevant.

Too bad they don't have a question, "What does your ideal day look like?" I would love that. It would be soooo easy.

What day? I slept through it...

The question which was something along the lines of: "Do you consider yourself a minority?"

South Asians in the medical community are anything but minorities.
