What is your opinion on the difficulty of cc and university courses? Do you believe university courses are much harder than cc courses or just a little bit harder? On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, how would you rate the two? I'm thinking a cc class might come in somewhere around a 6. A university class probably around 8 maybe 8.5. What do you guys think? Also, you know cc only give out A, B, C grades, not A+/A-, so an "A" equals 4.0 quality points and a "B" equals 3.0 quality points. There are classes where I would have had a B+ if I was at a university and received 3.4 quality points but didn't. I feel our true GPA is not reflected because of this? What do you guys think? How do you think ADCOMS look at it?

I believe that University courses are harder than CC. Besides, you can only take your lower division courses at CC. Majority of schools want to see that you succeeded in taking most of your prereqs at the 4-year institution. I also know that sometimes cost is a huge issue especially with the rise of tuition at most schools. My suggestion, take your chemistry at the University. It will prepare you more for the DAT. Also, ask yourself this question: What looks better... an A in Organic at CC or a University? Adcoms will use differences like these as ways to accept/reject people. I personally think a B at a University looks better than an A at CC. University courses are supposed to be harder... and plus, it will prepare you better than most CC.

It all depends on the university you are comparing it to. I'm sure its possible that you could get a really tough CC professor and the course would be much more difficult than an easy professor at a lower ranking university, but in the end it doesnt matter. In most cases university courses are much tougher than cc courses and and admissions committees know this. If you can, try to take most of your prereqs at a 4 year university. If you are taking some classes at community college, make sure you get A's, especially if your cc does not use + or - grades. I can't say how adcoms would look at it, but in my opinion, I would say a 3.5 GPA from a 4 year university is more impressive than a 3.9-4.0 at a community college. Again - thats just my opinion. Its not a big deal to have a year or two of credits at a community college, just do your best to pull higher grades, and when you are able to, switch to a 4 year institution.
